Overview
This standard is about representing your organisation with professionalism and integrity when working with colleagues and stakeholders across organisational boundaries. You determine the information you need, gather and analyse evidence and understand organisational positions, expectations and responsibilities. You communicate clearly, promote inclusion and shared understanding and present your organisation’s views accurately and responsibly. You build credibility, respond constructively to concerns and adapt your approach when conditions change. You contribute to a positive organisational reputation, strengthen relationships across boundaries and support colleagues in representing the organisation effectively.
This standard applies to managers and leaders at all levels across all sectors.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- Determine the information you need to represent your organisation with professionalism and integrity across organisational boundaries to support shared outcomes.
- Gather and analyse information from relevant sources to understand organisational positions, expectations and responsibilities and inform credible representation.
- Communicate in ways that support inclusion, dignity and shared understanding to strengthen organisational credibility and trust.
- Represent your organisation’s positions, decisions and information accurately and responsibly to support trust, credibility and informed engagement.
- Act as a credible representative of your organisation when engaging with colleagues and stakeholders from different teams, departments, organisations, professions or sectors to strengthen organisational reputation.
- Share information that supports transparency, trust and effective cross-boundary working.
- Listen actively to understand colleagues’ and stakeholders’ views, concerns and expectations and use this insight to strengthen representation and alignment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent, aligned and responsible representation of organisational positions to support coherence and clarity.
- Adapt your communication and behaviour to reduce barriers and support constructive engagement across boundaries to maintain progress and engagement.
- Respond constructively to concerns raised by colleagues or stakeholders in line with organisational procedures to maintain trust and momentum.
- Monitor behaviours, interactions and working relationships to identify factors that may affect organisational representation and respond in line with organisational procedures to maintain a positive working environment.
- Take account of diverse cultural, professional and lived perspectives to strengthen the relevance, credibility and inclusivity of organisational representation.
- Identify emerging issues in cross-boundary relationships that may affect organisational reputation or credibility to inform timely action.
