Overview

This standard is about managing your self-awareness, emotional regulation and resilience to sustain effective leadership. You evaluate how your behaviour, decisions and emotional responses influence colleagues, stakeholders and organisational outcomes. You regulate your emotions to maintain professionalism, adapt constructively to pressure and change and apply strategies that support 
resilience and wellbeing. You seek feedback, identify personal triggers and take responsibility for strengthening your emotional capability over time. 

This standard applies to managers and leaders at all levels across all sectors.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. Evaluate your emotional responses and behaviour to understand how they influence colleagues, stakeholders and organisational outcomes.
  2. Use reflective practice and feedback to strengthen your self-awareness and emotional insight.
  3. Identify your strengths, limitations and patterns of behaviour to inform your personal development.
  4. Identify internal and external triggers that influence your emotional responses to support effective self-management.
  5. Regulate your emotions to maintain professionalism and effective decision-making in challenging or high-pressure situations.
  6. Adapt your behaviour and emotional regulation in response to feedback and changing expectations to strengthen performance and relationships.
  7. Assess early indicators of pressure or stress that may affect your wellbeing and performance to take timely and proportionate action.
  8. Apply strategies that support emotional balance, stress management and sustained performance.
  9. Seek objective, specific feedback to strengthen your emotional awareness and resilience.
  10. Take action to strengthen your resilience and emotional capability over time.
  11. Use organisational resources to support your wellbeing and resilience to sustain effective performance.
  12. Maintain professional boundaries to support emotional balance, clarity and effective decision-making.
